The Region 6 Adult Protective Services Advisory Board (“Region 6 APS Advisory Board” or “Board”) depends on the voluntary generosity of individuals, businesses, foundations, and community partners to advance its charitable mission.
We believe that philanthropy is built on trust, transparency, responsible stewardship, and respect for donors. Accordingly, the Board is committed to the following principles.
Our Commitments to Donors
Donors and prospective donors may expect the Board:
- To clearly describe our mission and activities and how charitable resources support our work.
- To responsibly steward donated resources and use accepted gifts in furtherance of the Board’s charitable purposes.
- To honor accepted gift restrictions and donor designations consistent with the terms under which a gift was accepted and applicable law.
- To provide appropriate acknowledgment of contributions and information reasonably necessary for donors to maintain records of their gifts.
- To provide access to appropriate information about the organization, including information about Board leadership and publicly available organizational and financial records.
- To communicate truthfully and respectfully about fundraising needs, opportunities, and the intended use of donations.
- To respect donor privacy. We do not sell or rent donor personal information and handle donor information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
- To respect requests for anonymity in public donor recognition when reasonably possible, subject to legal, financial, accounting, and administrative requirements.
- To clearly identify third-party services involved in online giving. Online donations initiated through our website are currently processed using PayPal. Information provided directly to PayPal or another payment service is also governed by that provider’s privacy and transaction practices.
- To allow donors to ask questions and raise concerns about their gifts and to provide prompt and candid responses when reasonably possible.
- To identify whether persons soliciting support on behalf of the Board are Board members, volunteers, contractors, or other representatives when that distinction is relevant.
- To avoid inappropriate pressure or coercion in fundraising and to encourage donors to seek independent legal, financial, or tax advice when appropriate.
Tax and Financial Information
The Board is recognized as a charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The Board may provide acknowledgments and other information concerning donations but does not provide individual legal, tax, investment, or financial advice. Donors should consult their own professional advisers regarding the deductibility or other consequences of a gift.
